Pinpoint Test D: The Climate Control Assembly Illumination Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 71, Cluster and Panel Illumination for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

A variable Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) voltage is supplied to the climate control assembly from the instrument panel dimmer switch (part of the headlamp switch) when the side, main or parking lamps are on.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Climate control assembly

PINPOINT TEST D: THE CLIMATE CONTROL ASSEMBLY ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
D1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CLIMATE CONTROL ASSEMBLY

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Climate Control Assembly C2892.
- With the parking lamps on, rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch to the full illumination position.
- Measure the voltage between the climate control assembly C2892-1, circuit 29S-LH27 (OG/GN), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to D2.

No
REPAIR circuit 29S-LH27 (OG/GN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
D2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CLIMATE CONTROL ASSEMBLY USING THE CONNECTOR GROUND

- Measure the voltage between the climate control assembly C2892-1, circuit 29S-LH27 (OG/GN), harness side and the climate control assembly C2892-2, circuit 31-LH27 (BK), harness side.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
INSTALL a new climate control assembly. REFER to Climate Control Climate Control Assembly. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR circuit 31-LH27 (BK) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
