Pinpoint Test AK: DTC U3003:17

Normal Operation

- DTC U3003:17 (Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Above Threshold)- set by the Audio Front Control Module (ACM), the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), the audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) module (if equipped), the Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) (if equipped), the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM), and the Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) (if equipped).

The DTCs set in continuous memory when the sensed voltage is equal to or greater than 15.8V for more than 250ms.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Charging system concern

- ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)

- Audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module

- GPSM (Global Positioning System Module)

- FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module)

PINPOINT TEST AK : DTC U3003:17

NOTE:
DTC U3003:17 may be stored in the module memory due to past battery charging or vehicle jump starting events.

AK1 CHECK FOR HIGH VOLTAGE DTCs SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Ignition ON.

- Retrieve all Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) from all modules.

Is DTC B1317, B1676, P0563 (PCM), or U3003:17 set in more than one module?

Yes
REFER to Charging System to diagnose an overcharging condition.
No
GO to AK2.

AK2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE

- Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.

- Start and run the engine at approximately 2,000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.

Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher?

Yes
REFER to Charging System to diagnose an overcharging condition.
No
GO to AK3.

AK3 RECHECK FOR DTC U3003:17

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Clear the DTCs for the module in question.

- Repeat the self-test.

Is DTC U3003:17 still present?

Yes
For ACM (Audio Front Control Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AK4.

For APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AK5.

For audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module DTC U3003:17, GO to AK6.

For GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AK7.

For FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AK8.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.

AK4 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (Audio Front Control Module) OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect all the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) connectors.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect all the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new ACM (Audio Front Control Module). REFER to Audio Control Module (ACM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.

AK5 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connector.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connector and make sure it seats correctly.

- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module). REFER to Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.

AK6 CHECK FOR CORRECT AUDIO DSP (Digital Signal Processing) MODULE OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect all the audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module connectors.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect all the audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module. REFER to Audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Module - Front Captain's Chair or Audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Module - Split Bench . TEST the system for normal operation.
