Pinpoint Test G: The Driver Window Control Switch Illumination is Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagrams Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Electrical Diagrams
Normal Operation
The driver window control switch illumination shares the same power source that is used to control the windows, but has a dedicated ground circuit for the illumination.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Driver window control switch
- Smart Junction Box (SJB)
PINPOINT TEST G : THE DRIVER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
G1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DRIVER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Operate the window control switch from the driver window control switch.
Do the windows operate?
Yes
GO to G2.
No
REFER to Windows and Glass to continue diagnosis of the power window.
G2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE DRIVER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH USING THE CONNECTOR GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Driver Window Control Switch C504.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the driver window control switch C504-3, circuit CBB36 (GY/BU), harness side and the driver window control switch C504-15, circuit GD133 (BK), harness side.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
INSTALL a new driver window control switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR circuit GD133 (BK) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
