Pinpoint Test AB: The SERVICE ADVANCETRAC(R) Warning Is Inoperative/Always On

Normal Operation

The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the Roll Stability Control (RSC(R)) status over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. When the ABS module detects an RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) system fault, the ABS module sends a message to the IC (Instrument Cluster) to turn on the SERVICE ADVANCETRAC(R) message and sound the service RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) warning chime.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Message center concern

- RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) system concern

- IC (Instrument Cluster)

PINPOINT TEST AB : THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC(R) MESSAGE IS INOPERATIVE/ALWAYS ON

AB1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

- Close all doors, liftgate and hood.

- Ignition ON.

- Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.

Does the message center display DRIVER DOOR AJAR?

Yes
GO to AB2.

No
GO to Pinpoint Test AA. Pinpoint Test AA: The Message Center Is Not Operating Correctly

AB2 CHECK THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR AND SERVICE RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) WARNING CHIME OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Close the driver door.

- Ignition ON.

- Monitor the service RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) warning chime.

Does the service RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) warning chime sound?

Yes
INSTALL a new IC (Instrument Cluster). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to AB3.

AB3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS MODULE SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the ABS module self-test.

Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
REFER to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The SERVICE ADVANCETRAC(R) message turns on and the service RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) warning chime sounds when a fault is detected in the RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) system.
