Instrument Panel Upper Section
Removal and Installation
All vehicles
1. Position the steering wheel downward.
2. Remove the front floor console. For additional information, refer to Console- Front, Floor .
3. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels.
4. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side trim panels.
- Pull the instrument panel side trim panels outward to release the retaining clips.
5. Remove the steering wheel.
6. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel. For additional information, refer to Instrument Cluster Finish Panel .
7. Remove the 4 Instrument Cluster (IC) screws.
8. Remove the IC (Instrument Cluster).
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
9. Remove the 2 multifunction switch screws.
10. Remove the multifunction switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
11. Disconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector through the instrument cluster finish panel opening.
12. Remove the hood release handle screw and position the handle aside.
Vehicles without navigation
13. Remove the 4 Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) screws.
14. Remove the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module).
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
15. Detach the 2 wire harness pin-type retainers located in the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) opening.
16. Detach the wire harness pin-type retainer located below the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM).
17. Remove the 4 FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) screws.
18. Remove the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module).
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the antenna cable.
Vehicles with navigation
19. Remove the 4 FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) screws.
20. Remove the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module).
- Disconnect the electrical and video connectors.
21. Detach the 3 wire harness pin-type retainers located in the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) opening.
22. Detach the wire harness pin-type retainer located below the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module).
23. Remove the 4 FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) screws.
24. Remove the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module).
- Disconnect the electrical and video connectors.
- Disconnect the antenna cable.
- Detach the wire harness pin-type retainers.
All vehicles
25. Remove the light sensor from the instrument panel upper section.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
26. If equipped, remove the instrument panel speaker.
27. Remove the LH and RH front door scuff plate trim panels.
- Lift the scuff plate trim panels upward to release the retaining clips.
28. Remove the LH and RH lower cowl trim panels.
- Pull the lower cowl trim panels rearward to release the retaining clips.
29. Remove the 2 RH lower instrument panel insulator pushpin retainers.
30. Remove the RH lower instrument panel insulator.
31. Remove the 3 glove compartment screws.
32. Remove the glove compartment assembly.
- Open and press in the 2 glove compartment door stops.
33. Remove the 2 passenger air bag-to-cross beam bolts.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
34. Remove the 13 instrument panel upper section screws.
- Remove one screw from the LH and RH side of the instrument panel.
- Remove the 5 screws located in the steering column opening trim panel area.
- Remove the 2 screws located in the IC (Instrument Cluster) area.
- Remove the 2 screws located in the lower FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) area.
- Remove the 2 screws located in the glove compartment opening.
35. Slightly pull the RH side of the instrument panel upper section outward to gain access to the passenger side air bag connectors.
36. Disconnect the 2 passenger air bag connectors.
37. Depress the retainers and remove the HVAC module from the instrument panel upper section.
38. If equipped, position aside the Global Positioning System (GPS) antenna bracket from the instrument panel.
- Release the 2 clips and remove the GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna from the instrument panel upper section.
- To install, make sure that the GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna bracket has the metal plate facing downward.
39. NOTICE: To avoid damaging the upper section, the aid of an assistant is required to carry out this step.
NOTICE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the upper section or damage to the components may occur.
Remove the instrument panel upper section.
40. NOTICE: To avoid damaging the instrument panel, the aid of an assistant is required when positioning the upper section to the vehicle.
NOTICE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are correctly routed when installing the upper section or damage to the components may occur.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Transfer parts as needed.
- Make sure to align the retaining clips to the adjacent retaining clip holes.
