A8 - Check For Spark At The Plugs

- Disconnect the spark plug wire to any accessible cylinder.

- Connect spark tester between spark plug wire and engine ground.

- Connect spark plug firing indicator D81P-6666-A or D89P-6666-A or equivalent.

- Crank engine and check for spark.

- Reconnect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.

- Was spark present and consistent?

YES -- If MIL turned off during crank in A3: RETURN to Symptom Charts. Testing and Inspection

If MIL stayed on during crank in A3: Go to A9. A9 - Check Continuity Of Ignition Ground Circuit

NO -- If MIL turned off during crank in A3: SERVICE or REPLACE spark plug wires for insulation damage, looseness or other damage. SERVICE or REPLACE spark plugs for wear, carbon deposits and proper plug gap.

If MIL stayed on during crank in A3: Go to Pinpoint Test Step JA1. JA1 - Check Plugs and Wires - Key Off
