AA6 - Check Continuity of Ignition Ground Circuit

- Key "OFF".

- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 60 pin connector. Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.

- Install breakout box, leave PCM disconnected.

For vehicles with distributor mounted Ignition Control Module (ICM):
- Disconnect ICM module connector.

For vehicles with remote mount ICM:
- Disconnect Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.

- Measure resistance between test pin 16 at breakout box and ICM or CMP sensor vehicle harness connector IGN GND circuit.

- Is resistance less than 5.0 ohms?

Yes -- Go to AA7. AA7 - Isolation of Problem to Spout Circuit

No -- Service open circuit. Remove breakout box. Reconnect all components. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
