G6 - Check Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor



NOTE: Ambient temperature should be at least 10°C (50°F) before performing this test. Also check for air leaks in front of the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. Service as necessary.

- Key "OFF".

- Breakout box installed, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connected.

- Connect Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVOM) between test pin 25 and test pin 46 at breakout box.

- DVOM on 20 volt scale.

- Monitor voltage as engine warms up.

- Does voltage decrease smoothly and stabilize after engine has reached operating conditions?

NOTE: Refer to voltage chart in Pinpoint Test DA for engine specific values. DA - Pinpoint Test Schematic

Yes -- Sometime during the last 80 warm-up cycles the TP sensor signal indicated out of range. However, at this time Electronic Engine Controls (EEC) system is operating OK. Remove breakout box. Reconnect PCM. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)

No -- Replace IAT sensor. Remove breakout box. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
