- Continue to monitor the PIDs listed in the previous step.

- Key On, Engine Running.

- Scan Tool connected.

- Warm engine to operating temperature (approximately 195°F).

- Continue to view the PIDs based on the information from the pinpoint test or from the Intermittent Symptom Charts. Intermittent Symptom Charts

- Compare the actual values from the vehicle to the HOT IDLE values in the Diagnostic Reference Value Chart. Normal Scan Data Values - Includes Pids

- Are any PID values out of range or suddenly drop out and back into range?

Yes -- Fault identified. For Input fault: GO to Z10. Z10

For output fault: GO to Z20. Z20

No -- Unable to verify fault. GO to Z42. Z42
