NOTE: Look for certain conditions that cause the intermittent fault to occur. Refer to Recreating the Fault. Recreating the Fault

- Continue to monitor the PIDs listed in Z40.

- Instrument the vehicle as in the previous steps.

- Select another person to assist in performing the 55 mph test.

- Make sure engine is at operating temperature before comparing or recording diagnostic values.

- Drive the vehicle in a steady 55 mph range with accessories off.

- Access the PIDs based on information from the pinpoint test or from the Intermittent Symptom Charts. Intermittent Symptom Charts

- Compare the actual values from the vehicle to the 55 mph values from the Diagnostic Reference Value Chart. Normal Scan Data Values - Includes Pids

- Are any values out of range or drop out and back Into range?

Yes -- Fault identified. For input fault: GO to Z10. Z10

For output fault: GO to Z20. Z20

No -- Unable to verify fault. RETURN to Z1 and choose another procedure. Z1 - Intermittent Test Procedure
