Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

KF46 - Check Continuity Between Fan and LFC/HFC Relay

CHECK POWER-TO-FAN CIRCUIT CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE COOLING FAN AND THE RELAYS

- Key "OFF".

- Low Fan Control (LFC) and High Fan Control (HFC) relays disconnected.

- Disconnect cooling fan.

- Measure resistance between the Power-to-Fan circuit at the cooling fan vehicle harness connector and Power-to-Fan circuit at both the LFC and HFC relay vehicle harness connectors.

- Are both resistances less than 10.0 ohms?

Yes -- Go to KF47. KF47 - Check Cooling Fan Ground Circuit

No -- Service open in Power-to-Fan circuit (if open is only between the LFC relay and fan, first verify dropping resistor connection). Reconnect all components. Re-evaluate symptom.
