Piston Ring: Service and Repair

Piston Rings Disassembly


1. Remove pistons as outlined.


2. NOTE: Any piston rings that are removed from pistons should be discarded and replaced with new rings.


Remove two compression rings with a suitable piston ring expander. Remover two oil control rings and expander by hand.

3. Clean and inspect pistons. Replace pistons as required.


Assembly


1. Check the end gap of all piston rings. End gap must be within Specifications as outlined.







2. Using a suitable piston ring expander, install two compression rings as shown. Position compression rings, oil control rings and expander gaps on pistons as shown.

3. Install pistons as outlined.
