Heater Core Case: Service and Repair




REMOVAL
1. Partially drain the cooling system.
2. Disconnect the heater water hoses at the dash panel.
3. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard/Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Instrument Panel - Replacement, Instrument Panel - Replacement

4. Disconnect the function control and A/C temperature cables from the cams and retaining clips.
5. Remove the necessary defroster duct screws.
6. Loosen the capscrew that secures the A/C evaporator outlet duct clamp.

Heater:






7. Remove the three heater nuts.
8. Disconnect the antenna lead from the retaining clip.

Heater:






9. Remove the heater from the car.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: If installing a new heater, save the heater control locator pins for mode selector and temperature control cable adjustment.

Heater:






1. Position the heater and attach the defroster and floor ducting.
2. Install the three heater unit nuts.
3. Tighten the heater to blower clamp capscrew.
4. Install the defroster duct screws.
5. Connect the antenna lead to the retaining clip.
6. Connect and adjust the mode selector and A/C temperature cables.
7. Reinstall the instrument panel. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard/Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Instrument Panel - Replacement, Instrument Panel - Replacement

8. Connect the heater water hoses at the dash panel.
9. Fill the cooling system to the proper level.
