Pinpoint Test AF: The Front Control/Display Interface Module (FCDIM) Does Not Display Warning Messages Or Message Center Warning Indicators

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 60, Instrument Cluster for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation

The message center display is located in the Front Control/Display Interface Module (FCDIM) and receives the message center data from the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) and Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) communication bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Communication concern

- FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module)

PINPOINT TEST AF : THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) DOES NOT DISPLAY WARNING MESSAGES OR MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATORS

AF1 CARRY THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) DISPLAY OPERATION

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) DataLogger.

- Select the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) LCD display (LCD_SEG) and message center warnings (WARN_AMBER) and (WARN_RED) active command. Command the LCD display segments, amber and red warning displays on.

- Monitor the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) display.

Do the LCD segments and amber and red warning displays turn on when commanded on?

Yes
GO to AF2.

No
INSTALL a new FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module). TEST the system for normal operation.

AF2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
REFER to DTC Charts Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes.

No
GO to AF3.

AF3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) self-test.

Is DTC U0155:00 recorded?

Yes
REFER to Accessories and Optional Equipment.

No
INSTALL a new FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module). TEST the system for normal operation.
