Pinpoint Test

1. VERIFY THE SCAN TOOL CAN COMMUNICATE WITH THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module)

1. Connect the scan tool.

2. Check that a vehicle session can be established using the scan tool.

Can a vehicle session be established?






2. CHECK THE BCM (Body Control Module) CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.

3. Clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

4. Wait 10 seconds.

5. Repeat the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 retrieved again?






3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P0562 or DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P0563 recorded?






4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.

Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?






5. CHECK FOR DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

Is DTC U0100:00 set in the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module or in the RCM (Restraints Control Module)?
