Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side (1500)

Removal Procedure




1. Release the park brake.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

3. Loosen the intermediate park brake cable equalizer nut (1).




4. Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (1) from the equalizer.

5. Release the right rear park brake cable from the frame bracket by compressing the locking tabs and pulling the cable conduit rearward.

6. Release the park brake cable from the park brake cable guides on the vehicle frame.




7. Remove the park brake cable from the track bar clips.




8. Remove the park brake cable from the actuator lever.

9. Remove the cable from the backing plate by depressing the locking tabs.

10. Remove the cable from the retaining bracket.

11. Remove the park brake cable.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the park brake cable taking care to correctly route the cable through the guides and the body mounts.

2. Install the park brake cable to the backing plate by pressing the cable into place until the tabs lock into place.

3. Install the cable to the actuator lever.




4. Install the park brake cable to the track bar and secure in place with the clips. Verify the clips are installed between the locators on the track bar.




5. Connect the right rear park brake cable (1) to the equalizer.

6. Insert the park brake cable conduit into the frame bracket.
Ensure the locking tabs on the cable conduit are fully engaged into the frame bracket.

7. Enable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling.

8. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (1500) Parking Brake Adjustment (1500)Parking Brake Adjustment (2500) Parking Brake Adjustment (2500).
