Pinpoint Test AY: DTC B103C

Normal Operation
The Passenger Climate Controlled Seat Module - 2 (PCSM-2) monitors the LH rear seat Thermo-Electric Device (TED) circuits. If an open on any of these circuits is detected, the DTC will be set.
- DTC B103C (Thermo-Electric Driver Open Load) - If PCSM-2 outputs to the LH rear seat backrest or cushion TED (circuit pins G, H, J or K at the PCSM-2 connector) or any components within these circuit loops are open, disconnected or a TED resistance greater than 90,000 ohms is sensed, the PCSM-2 continues normal operation and sets this DTC.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- TED assembly
- PCSM-2
PINPOINT TEST AY: DTC B103C
NOTICE: When taking measurements at Passenger Climate Controlled Seat Module - 2 (PCSM-2) harness connectors, do not insert the electrical probes into the female connector pins. Inserting the probes into connector pins can cause intermittent or open electrical connections after reassembly resulting in Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and system failure. Touching the tip of these connector pins is recommended instead.

AY1 CHECK TED CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: PCSM-2 C3365A.
- Disconnect: Cushion TED C3358.
- Disconnect: Backrest TED C3362.
- Measure the resistance between PCSM-2 C3365A, harness side and cushion TED C3358, harness side; and between PCSM-2 C3365A, harness side and backrest TED C3362, harness side using the following chart:
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to AY2.
No
REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

AY2 CHECK TED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between PCSM-2 C3365A, harness side and ground using the following chart:
- Is voltage present on any circuits?
Yes
REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No
GO to AY3.

AY3 CHECK THE BACKREST TED AND CUSHION TED RESISTANCE
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance between:
- backrest TED C3362 pin 1 and pin 3, component side.
- cushion TED C3358 pin 1 and pin 3, component side.
- Are the resistances between 0.9 and 10 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new PCSM-2. REFER to Passenger Climate - Controlled Seat Module (PCSM-2) Passenger Climate - Controlled Seat Module (PCSM-2). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No
If backrest TED resistance is not between 0.9 and 10 ohms, INSTALL a new backrest TED. REFER to Seat Backrest Thermo-Electric Device - Second Row Seat Backrest Thermo-Electric Device - Second Row. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
If cushion TED resistance is not between 0.9 and 10 ohms, INSTALL a new cushion TED. REFER to Seat Cushion Thermo-Electric Device - Second Row Seat Cushion Thermo-Electric Device - Second Row. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
