Pinpoint Test AO: The Adaptive Cruise Control Warning Chime Is Inoperative
Normal Operation
The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives the adaptive cruise control chime signal from the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus.
The low priority adaptive cruise control warning chime is a single-tone chime that sounds to alert the driver that the adaptive cruise control system has shut itself off due to low vehicle speed (approximately 32 km/h [20 mph]) and that the driver needs to intervene if further braking is required or to resume the adaptive cruise control operation.
The high priority adaptive cruise control warning chime is also a single-tone that is longer than the low priority chime to increase intensity and alert the driver that the vehicle is approaching the vehicle ahead at a faster rate than the adaptive cruise control system can brake the vehicle and that the driver needs to intervene and apply the brakes to slow the vehicle down.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Adaptive cruise control indication concern
- Speedometer concern
- IPC
PINPOINT TEST AO: THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WARNING CHIME IS INOPERATIVE
-------------------------------------------------
AO1 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- On vehicles without Intelligent Access (IA), insert the key into the ignition lock cylinder.
- On vehicles equipped with IA, place the ignition in the ACC mode.
- Open the LH front door and observe the key-in-ignition warning chime operation.
- Does the key-in-ignition warning chime operate correctly?
Yes
GO to AO2.
No
GO to Pinpoint Test AI. Pinpoint Tests AI: The Chime Sounds When The Driver Door Is Ajar (No Key In Ignition And Headlamps Off)
-------------------------------------------------
AO2 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION
- Verify that the speedometer operates.
- Does the speedometer operate?
Yes
GO to AO3.
No
GO to Pinpoint Test F. Pinpoint Test F: The Speedometer Is Inoperative
-------------------------------------------------
AO3 CHECK THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR OPERATION
- Verify that the adaptive cruise control indicator operates when the speed control is activated.
- Does the adaptive cruise control indicator operate correctly?
Yes
INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to Pinpoint Test AA. Pinpoint Tests AA: The Adaptive Cruise Control Indicator Is Never/Always On (If Equipped)
