Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CONDENSER CORE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - HYBRID
NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system, except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
NOTE: If a condenser core leak is suspected, the condenser core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle. See A/C Evaporator/Condenser On-Vehicle Leak Test.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.
2. Recover the refrigerant. See Discharging And Recovery.
3. Remove the motor electronics cooler. See - Motor Electronics Cooler Removal/Installation.
4. Remove the 4 radiator bracket bolts.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm {0.8 kgf-m, 71 in-lbf}.
5. Detach and remove the RH and LH radiator brackets.
6. Remove the condenser outlet and inlet fitting nuts and disconnect the fittings.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm {1.5 kgf-m, 11 ft-lbf}.
7. Remove the 2 condenser bolts.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm {0.7 kgf-m, 62 in-lbf}.
8. Remove the condenser core.
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new gasket seals.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. See Refrigerant Oil Adding.
10. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. See Air Conditioning (A/C) System Evacuation And Charging.
