Automatic Transmission Brace Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (L26 - 3.8L) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS4 - 5.3L) (Service and Repair) .
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the oil filter adapter. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .




5. Remove the transaxle brace bolts (1, 3).
6. Remove the transaxle brace (2).



Installation Procedure





1. Install the transaxle brace (2).
2. Hand start the bolts to the engine and to the transaxle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

3. Install the transaxle brace bolts (3) to the transaxle.

Tighten the bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).

4. Install the transaxle brace bolts (1) to the engine.

Tighten the bolts to 63 N.m (46 lb ft).

5. Install the oil filter adapter. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (L26 - 3.8L) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS4 - 5.3L) (Service and Repair) .
