Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair




Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister to EVAP canister vent solenoid valve line quick connect fitting. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
3. Disconnect the fuel tank EVAP vapor line to EVAP canister quick connect fitting. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
4. From under the fuel tank, remove the TORX(R) bolt attaching the EVAP canister to bracket.
5. Slide the EVAP canister upward from the bracket.

Installation Procedure




1. Slide the NEW EVAP canister down into the bracket.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. From under the fuel tank, install the Torx(R) bolt attaching the EVAP canister to bracket.

Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

3. Connect the fuel tank EVAP vapor line to EVAP canister quick connect fitting. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
4. Connect the EVAP canister to EVAP canister vent solenoid valve line quick connect fitting. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
5. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Service and Repair).
