Ignition Spark Test






Ignition Spark Test

1) Disconnect all injector couplers.

WARNING:
Without disconnection of injector coupler, combustible gas may come out from spark plug holes during this test and may get ignited in engine room.

2) Disconnect ignition coil coupler.
3) Remove ignition coil bolt (1), and then pull out ignition coil (2).
4) Remove spark plug (3).





5) Connect ignition coil coupler to ignition coil and connect spark plug to ignition coil.
6) Ground spark plug to engine securely.
7) Crank engine and check if spark plug sparks.

If no spark is emitted, inspect spark plug, ignition coil, CMP sensor, igniter, etc.
8) Install spark plug (3) and tighten them to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Spark plug (a): 25 Nm (2.5 kgf-m, 18.0 lbf-ft)

9) Install ignition coil (2) securely.
10) Tighten ignition coil bolt (1), and then connect ignition coil coupler.

Tightening torque
Ignition coil bolt (b): 3 Nm (0.3 kgf-m, 2.5 lbf-ft)





11) Install ignition coil cover.
12) Connect all injector couplers.
