P2610
2GR-FE ENGINE CONTROL: SFI SYSTEM: P2610: ECM / PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance
P2610 - ECM / PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance
DTC SUMMARY
DESCRIPTION
To ensure the accuracy of the EVAP (Evaporative Emission) monitor values, the soak timer, which is built into the ECM, measures 5 hours (+/- 15 minutes) from when the ignition switch is turned off, before the monitor runs. This allows the fuel to cool down, which stabilizes the EVAP pressure. When 5 hours have elapsed, the ECM turns on.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
5 hours after the ignition switch is turned off, the soak timer activates the ECM to begin the EVAP system monitor. While the engine is running, the ECM monitors the synchronization of the soak timer and the CPU clock. If these 2 are not synchronized, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction, illuminates the MIL and sets the DTC (2 trip detection logic).
MONITOR STRATEGY
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS
TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the Clear DTC procedure) DTC Check / Clear.
4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on [A].
6. Start the engine.
7. Idle the engine for 10 minutes or more.
8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.
9. Read the pending DTC [B].
10. If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
HINT
If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
11. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
12. Input the DTC: P2610.
13. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
- If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN, perform step [B] again.
14. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
15. Check the judgment DTC.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
16. If the test result is INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
- DTC P2610 is set if an internal ECM problem is detected. Diagnostic procedures are not required. ECM replacement is required.
- Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.
PROCEDURE
1. REPLACE ECM
(a) Replace the ECM Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Clear the DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
(e) Start the engine and wait for 10 minutes or more.
(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.
(g) If no pending DTC is displayed, the repair has been successfully completed.
