INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL: REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
Upper Instrument Panel
NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Service Precautions.
2. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY Removal
3. REMOVE NO. 1 DECK BOARD Removal
4. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD Removal
5. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX Removal
6. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX RH Removal
7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization
8. REMOVE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL
(a) Disengage the 8 claws.
(b) Disconnect each connector and remove the integration control and panel.
9. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL
(a) Disengage the 2 claws and clip and remove the upper instrument panel finish panel.
10. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the 9 claws.
(b) Disengage each clamp.
(c) Disconnect each connector and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel assembly.
11. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 8 claws and remove the upper instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.
12. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 claws and remove the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.
13. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH
(a) Disconnect the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
(a) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 claws and guide.
(b) Disengage the guide and remove the instrument panel finish panel end LH as shown in the illustration.
15. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH Removal
16. REMOVE LOWER FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
(a) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 3 claws and remove the lower front pillar garnish LH.
17. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.

(b) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 5 claws.
(c) Disengage the 2 guides and remove the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.
18. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Removal
19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX ASSEMBLY
(a) Open the instrument panel box and glove compartment door.
(b) Pull the instrument panel box assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 8 claws as shown in the illustration.
(c) Close the glove compartment door.
20. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the screw [C].
(b) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 claws and remove the No. 2 instrument panel register assembly.
21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER
(a) Remove the 2 screws [E] and instrument panel cup holder.
22. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
23. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
(a) Using a molding remover, disengage the 6 claws and guide.
(b) Disengage the guide and remove the instrument panel finish panel end RH as shown in the illustration.
24. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side Removal.
25. REMOVE LOWER FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
(a) Using a molding remover, disengage the 3 claws and remove the lower front pillar garnish RH.
26. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.

(b) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 5 claws.
(c) Disengage the 2 guides and remove the No. 2 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.
27. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY
HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side Removal.
28. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the 8 claws and remove the center instrument panel register assembly.
29. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the lower center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
30. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 clips.
(b) Disengage the 2 guides and remove the No. 2 heater to register duct sub-assembly.
31. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 screws [D] and 3 clips.
(b) w/o Manual (SOS) Switch:
(1) Disengage the 2 clips and 3 guides and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
(c) w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:
(1) Disengage the 2 clips and 3 guides.
(2) Disengage the 3 clamps and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
32. REMOVE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch) Removal
33. DISCONNECT NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE Removal
34. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts [A] and 2 passenger airbag bolts [B].

(c) Disengage the 7 claws (A) as shown in the illustration.
(d) Disengage the 5 claws (B) and remove the upper instrument panel assembly as shown in the illustration.
NOTICE:
* Do not damage the upper instrument panel assembly.
* Do not allow the wire harnesses to interfere with the surrounding parts.
