Ignition Lock: Service and Repair

On Legend models equipped with air bag restraint system, use extreme care when working around steering column or center console area to avoid serious personal injury. All electrical harnesses for this system are covered with a yellow outer insulation, with related components located in the steering column, center console, dash panel and front fenders. It is recommended that only authorized personnel work on vehicles with this type of restraint system.



1. Remove ignition switch as previously described.
2. On Legend models, remove key light case socket and bulb by rotating socket 45°, then remove screw and case from lock assembly, if equipped.
3. Insert ignition key and move switch to ``I'' position.
4. Depress pin and remove lock cylinder from body.
5. Turn ignition key to ``lock'' position and align lock cylinder with body.
6. Turn key almost to ``I'' position and insert lock cylinder until pin contacts body.
7. Turn key to ``I'' position, then depress pin and insert lock cylinder until pin clicks into place.
8. Install ignition switch.
