Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Speed Sensor Replacement1. Disconnect the connectors from the mainshaft and countershaft speed sensors.
2. Remove the bolt securing the mainshaft speed sensor, then remove the mainshaft speed sensor (A) from the end cover.
3. Remove the bolt securing the countershaft speed sensor, then remove the countershaft speed sensor (A) from the transmission housing.
4. Install the new O-ring (B) on the mainshaft speed sensor, then install the mainshaft speed sensor in the end cover. When installing the speed sensor, do not allow dust or foreign particles to enter the transmission.
5. Install the new O-ring (B) on the countershaft speed sensor, then install the countershaft speed sensor in the transmission housing. When installing the speed sensor, do not allow dust or foreign particles to enter the transmission.
6. Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, then connect them securely.
