Audio System - Music Link Stops Working

Acura Music Link Stops Working

The Acura Music Link harness in '06 MDXs, RLs, and TLs can break connection with an Apple iPod if the harness isn't properly plugged in or it's shaken by vibration. If this happens, Music Link stops working (it goes into lock mode) with or without the check mark showing on the iPod display screen. And on some models, the audio unit may not switch to CDC or CD4 mode. To fix these problems, don't replace the Acura Music Link unit; you won't get a lasting repair. A permanent fix is in the works, but until it's available, you can reset the unit as a temporary measure. Here's how:

1. Make sure you've got the anti-theft codes for the audio unit (and the navigation code if equipped), then write down the audio presets.

2. Refer to the appropriate ETM, and pull the B+ fuse for the audio unit. Reinstall the fuse.

or

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery first, then disconnect the positive cable. Touch the cables together for 15 minutes with the ignition switch turned to ON (II). Reconnect the battery cables. Refer to the appropriate S/M, and do all required initialization or reset procedures.

3. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio unit (and navigation code if equipped), then enter the audio presets. Set the clock.
