Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Front Brake Pad Inspection and Replacement

Special Tools Required
Brake caliper piston compressor 07AAE-SEPA101

CAUTION
Frequent inhalation of brake pad dust, regardless of material composition, could be hazardous to your health.

Inspection

NOTE: Due to the high performance nature of the brake system on the Type S model, the rotors and pads may wear faster than on the other models. Be sure to inspect the front rotor thickness anytime the front pads are replaced.

1. Raise the front of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands in the proper locations.
2. Remove the front wheels. Take care not to scratch the calipers (Type S model).
3. Remove the brake pads.
4. Check the thickness of the brake pads (A). Do not include the thickness of the brake pad backing plate (B).

5. If the brake pad thickness is less than the service limit, replace all the brake pads as a set.
