Spark Plug: Service and Repair

REPLACING SPARK PLUGS





Remove old spark plugs:
Check that electrode deposits are uniform color and show no evidence of engine problems (wet or oily coating, excessive deposits, abnormal erosion).
Check identification numbers of new plugs with chart:
Bosch number W7D except 4 cyl. engine with oxygen sensor use Bosch number WR7DS.
Check gap of new plugs:
0.7 mm (0.028") - 4 cyl. engine
0.9 mm (0.035") - 5 cyl. engine
Coat plug threads with pencil "lead" or anti-seize compound.
Torque spark plugs in cylinder head to 22 ft./lbs.
