NOTE: When supplied as repair parts, replacement airbag control modules are not coded.
- If the airbag control module is not coded, the airbag MIL stays on continuously.
- When the On Board Diagnostic (OBD) program is initiated and the VAG1551 scan tool displays incorrect coding for the current airbag system version, or the airbag control module is replaced, code the airbag control module as described.


- Connect scan tool VAG1551 and select "Rapid data transfer" operating model.

- Completely remove key from ignition switch.
- Repeat procedure (to verify that control module has been coded correctly).
- Road test.
- Recheck airbag system to make sure that airbag MIL does not come on, and that there are no malfunctions recognized.
