Vacuum Vent Valve: Service and Repair

NOTE: On air bag equipped vehicles, refer to "Air Bag Systems" for more information.

1. Vehicles with audio coded antitheft system refer to Radio/Stereo, Service Precautions. Service Precautions
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove cover and air duct from under left side of instrument panel.
4. Remove electrical connector and vacuum hose from vacuum vent valve.
5. Using J-shaped tool No. 2041, or equivalent, push vacuum vent valve out of bushing from behind.
6. Once the valve is removed, the threads are destroyed. Do not reuse valve. Install new valve loosely by hand.
7. Using a 10mm socket, push vent valve through bushing as far as possible.
8. Pull brake (clutch) pedal as far back as possible.
9. Release pedal slowly. Switch is now adjusted.
