Vehicle Damage Warnings

The air conditioning system may use either CFC-12 (R12) or HDC134a (R134a) refrigerant depending on the production date of the vehicle. All models produced after January 1993 should be equipped with R134a systems. Refrigerant, compressor oil or components are not interchangeable between the two types of refrigerant systems.
Be sure to check which refrigerant is used before any system service is performed.
When replenishing or changing refrigerant or compressor oil or when replacing any system component, ensure the component or material is designed for the appropriate refrigerant system.
