Air Bag Systems: Service and Repair

Air bag units have an expiration date. The date can be found on a label attached to the driver side B pillar. If label is missing, use vehicle build date, listed on label located on driver side door pillar. After fifteen years, the air bag unit must be replaced. For safety reasons, other air bag system components may also require replacement at this time. Refer to "Service and Repair" for replacement procedures. After replacing components, install a new air bag date sticker, with expiration date punched out, to driver side B pillar.
