General System Description

GENERAL SYSTEM LAYOUT
The transmission control unit receives and processes signals from various inputs. It controls the transmission by operating the solenoid valves inside the valve body.

The control unit has a permanent fault memory and is fully compatible with the VAG 1551 diagnostic tester.

If the control unit or its voltage supply should fail, the transmission can continue to operate in 3rd gear hydraulic, reverse, and 1st gear manual via the manual valve in the transmission.
