CAUTION!
On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar, switch-off emergency (back-up) battery for Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting vehicle battery. Switch-on emergency (back-up) battery after reconnecting vehicle battery
1 - Clip
2 - Cable harness
3 - Head-level airbag connector (airbag side)
4 - Head-level airbag connector (chassis side)
5 - Screw
6 - Release tab
7 - Nut
• Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm.
8 - Threaded pins

• Removing
• The battery must be disconnected when the ignition is switched on.
- Switch on ignition.
- Disconnect the battery ground strap.
- Remove sun visor => [ Sun Visor ] Service and Repair.
- Remove roof grab handles => [ Roof Grab Handle ] Trim.
- Remove upper trim on A-pillar => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Trim.
- Remove garment hook => [ Garment Hook ] Trim.
- Remove D-pillar trim => [ D-Pillar Trim ] Trim.
- Remove rear shelf => [ Rear Shelf ] Trim.
- Remove nuts - 13 - (Qty. 6).
- Remove nut - 15 -.
- Unclip cable harness - 2 - at clip - 1 -.
- Pull release tab - 6 - and disconnect connector on chassis side - 4 -.
- Disconnect harness connector - 3 - on airbag side.
- Remove nut - 7 -.
- Lift cable harness - 2 - and pull out bracket - 9 -.
- Remove head-level airbag - 1 - from vehicle.
• Installing
CAUTION!
Always follow side curtain airbag installation procedure.
- Engage bracket - 9 - via slot - 10 - into threaded pins - 8 - and fasten nut - 7 -.
- Engage bracket - 17 - into threaded pins - 14 - and fasten nut - 15 -.
- Continue to engage head-level airbag into threaded pins and install nuts - 13 - (Qty. 6).
- Press on igniter - 16 -.
- Make sure that threaded pins - 8 - make contact on rear stop of slot - 10 -.
- Tighten nuts - 7 - and - 15 -.
- Tighten nut - 13 - on bracket - 12 -.
- Tighten nuts - 13 - (Qty. 5) in succession.
- Clip cable harness - 2 - on clip - 1 -.
CAUTION!
No one should be in vehicle when connecting battery.
- Connect battery ground strap.

• Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm.
14 - Threaded pins
15 - Nut
• Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm.
16 - Gas generator

• Follow the safety precautions after connecting the battery.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) signals a malfunction after installation, DTC memory must be checked, erased and once again checked using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051 A).
