The 4.2L BNS engine is regulated by two Engine Control Modules (ECM). The Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) (J623) and the Engine Control Module (ECM) 2 (J624).

The Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) (J623) and the Engine Control Module (ECM) 2 (J624) regulates fuel injection, Throttle Valve Control Module (J338), oxygen sensor regulation, ignition, knock control, Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve ( N80), engine speed limitation through fuel injectors or Engine Component Power Supply Relay (J757) as well as On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
