Removing

- On vehicles with automatic transmission, place selector lever in position S.

- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Remove the climatronic control module (J255).

- Remove gap cover above ashtray - arrow -.





- Open front ashtray.

- Remove the front ashtray insert.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.





- Release ashtray - 3 - to do so using a screwdriver - arrow -, attach screwdriver at opening - 4 -.

- Remove housing of front ashtray.

- Disconnect electrical harness connector, if present.

- Reach through opening of ashtray and press out access/start authorization button (E408) - 1 - - arrow -.





- Disconnect connector.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Install the climatronic control module.
