Component Protection

Most of the control modules on the Audi A6 are provided with component protection.

If a control module is replaced, the new control module must be adapted to the vehicle via an Online connection. If adaptation is not performed, the component protection of the new control module will be activated.

If component protection is activated, the new control module in the vehicle is only partially operative (for example tachometer not working). Component protection is active.

• when installing a new control module or

• when installing a control module from another vehicle.

If the component protection is active in the start authorization system, it is also active for all other control modules with component protection.

The immobilizer is not a part of the component protection.
