Steering Column Assembly Overview

• The steering column is delivered only as a complete replacement part. Service is not possible.






1 Steering Column

• With mechanical height adjustment.

• Can only be replaced as a unit.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steering Column ] Steering Column.

2 Bolt

• 22 Nm

• Observe assembly sequence. Refer to => [ Installation Sequence ] Steering Column.

3 Bolt

• 22 Nm

• Observe assembly sequence. Refer to => [ Installation Sequence ] Steering Column.

4 Bolt

• 22 Nm

• Observe assembly sequence. Refer to => [ Installation Sequence ] Steering Column.

5 Washer

• Installed only on vehicles with electrically adjustable steering column.

6 Bolt

• 3.6 Nm

• Installed only on vehicles with electrically adjustable steering column.

7 Reinforcement

• Installed only on vehicles with electrically adjustable steering column.

8 Steering Column

• With electrical height adjustment.

• Can only be replaced as a unit.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steering Column ] Steering Column.

9 Bolt

• 30 Nm

10 Bulkhead Boot

• Note installed position.

11 Steering Gear Pinion

12 Gasket

• The marking - arrow - must point downward

• Note installed position.

13 Lateral Control Arm for Steering Column

Bulkhead Boot and Seal Installation Position






- Install the boot - 1 - into he plenum chamber bulkhead so that the marking - arrow B - points downward vertically.

- Install the seal - 2 - into the bulkhead boot - 1 - so that the marking - arrow A - points downward vertically.
