Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

A/C Compressor Controls - Production Update

GROUP 64
Heating & Air Conditioning

Bulletin Number
64 14 88

Montvale, NJ
May 1988
Technical Dept.

SUBJECT:
Air Conditioner Compressor Controls

MODEL:
E30

Situation:
Vehicles produced 1/88 and later are no longer equipped with the Compressor Enable switch (located on the lower and center air distribution slide levers).

Consequently, it is not necessary to open the air distribution slide levers for the A/C system to operate.

Evaporator ice-up is prevented by an evaporator temperature sensor and regulator in contrast to the evaporator temperature switch equipped with a capillary tube used previously.

The first edition 325i Convertible ETM reflects these changes and should be used on all late production E30's when diagnosing a compressor control problem.
