Replacing Left Lambda Oxygen Monitor Sensor




11 78 540 - Replacing left lambda oxygen monitor sensor (N73)





Special tools required:
- 11 7 030 11 7 030 Socket Wrench Socket WAF 22





Cylinders 7 to 12.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out DME fault memory.
- Remove automatic transmission underbody protection.





Warning!
Scalding hazard!

Only perform these tasks after the exhaust system has cooled down.





Unlock and detach plug connection (1).

Release oxygen monitor sensor (2) with special tool 11 7 030 11 7 030 Socket Wrench Socket WAF 22.

Installation:
Pay attention to cable routing of Lambda control sensor.





Tighten down oxygen monitor sensor (2) with special tool 11 7 030 11 7 030 Socket Wrench Socket WAF 22.

Tightening torque 11 78 1AZ 11 78 Emissions-Control, Lambda Oxygen Sensor.

Installation:
If an oxygen monitor sensor is reused, apply a thin and even coat of Never-Seez(R) compound (refer to BMW Parts Service) to the thread only.

The part of the the oxygen monitor sensor which projects into the exhaust system branch (sensor ceramic) must not be cleaned or come into contact with lubricant.





Check function of DME.
