Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Remove mass airflow sensor and air intake duct.
4. Disconnect accelerator, cruise control and throttle valve cables from throttle body.
5. Remove crankcase ventilation pipe.
6. Disconnect vacuum line from throttle body.
7. Disconnect upper radiator and heater hoses from engine.
8. Disconnect fuel line.
9. Disconnect the following electrical connectors: TPS switch, IAC connector at throttle body, water temperature switch, coolant temperature switch and fan control switch.
10. Remove fuel rail.
11. Remove alternator and bracket and position aside.
12. Remove distributor cap and rotor. This is for access to the torx head bolt.
13. Remove intake manifold bolts and the intake manifold.
14. Reverse procedure to install. Torque manifold bolts in sequence, Fig. 4, to 47 ft.lbs.
