Cabin Temperature Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation

The in-vehicle sensor is attached to the air inlet grille located above the glove box on the instrument panel.

The aspirator, incorporated into the system to improve the operation of the in-vehicle sensor, is mounted on the A/C evaporator and blower module located within the instrument panel in front of the air inlet grille. A small hose connects the in-vehicle temperature sensor housing to the end of the aspirator.

A small amount of air flow from the evaporator and blower module creates a slight vacuum at the open end of the aspirator. This vacuum draws in-vehicle ambient air through the grille and over the sensor. Once a vacuum is created as air flows over the sensor, a low current signal signifying actual in-vehicle temperature is generated.
