Suspension - Inoperative Electronic Level Control

Bulletin 85-8-4A

Date

OCT. '84

Ref. No. 84-300-8
SUBJECT: INOPERATIVE ELECTRONIC LEVEL CONTROL

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 ELECTRAS

NOTICE: This bulletin supersedes 85-8-4 dated August 1984. Changes have been made in the ELC System Check.

Some early production 1985 Electras may experience an inoperative Electronic Level Control (ELC) system. This condition may be the result of a blown ELC fuse. To correct this condition, use the following procedure:

ELC SYSTEM CHECK:

1. If the vehicle was built before VIN 413239, replace the height sensor with Part No. 22048625. Follow installation and adjustment procedures in Section 3D of the 1985 FWD Electra Service Manual.

2. Replace the fuse and perform the ELC system performance check (see Figure 1).

3. If the fuse blows a second time, replace the compressor (Part No. 22020538).
