Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

Rocker Arms:






REMOVAL
1. Remove valve rocker arm covers.
2. Remove rocker arm nuts.

NOTE Keep components separated so they may be installed in the same location.

3. Remove rocker arm pivot ball(s) then rocker arm(s).
4. Remove pushrods (intake and exhaust pushrods are different lengths with the exhaust pushrod being the longer of the two: intake pushrods are marked orange and are 6 inches long, exhaust pushrods are marked blue and are 6-3/8 inches

INSTALLATION
1. Install pushrods (install correct length pushrods).
^ Intake pushrods are marked orange and are 6 inches long.
^ Exhaust pushrods are marked blue and are 6-3/8 inches long.
^ Make sure pushrods scat in lifter.
2. Install rocker arm(s).

NOTE Coat friction surfaces of rocker arms and pivot balls with camshaft and lifter prelube GM P/N 1052365 (or equivalent).

3. Install rocker arm pivot ball(s).
4. Install rocker arm nut(s) and torque to 26 Nm (19 lb. ft.).
5. Install valve rocker arm covers then inspect for valve train noise.
