Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the electrical connector (2) from the IAT sensor (1).




2. Loosen the clamp securing the intake air duct to the upper air cleaner assembly.




3. Carefully remove the intake air duct from the throttle body and upper air cleaner assembly (1).
4. Remove the 2 screws (2) from the upper air cleaner assembly.
5. Remove the upper air cleaner housing cover assembly (1).
6. Without disconnecting the PCM connectors, remove the PCM (4) and the harness from the lower air cleaner assembly (3).




7. Carefully remove lower the air cleaner assembly (1) by pulling the assembly from the 2 rubber grommets in the engine compartment.
8. Inspect the assembly for signs of damage and replace if required.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Carefully install the PCM housing by pushing the lower air cleaner assembly (1) into the 2 rubber grommets (2) in the engine compartment.




2. Carefully install the PCM (4) and the harness into the lower air cleaner housing (3).
3. Install the upper air cleaner housing cover assembly (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the 2 screws (2) into the upper and lower air cleaner assembly sections.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 4 Nm (35 lb in).

5. Carefully reinstall the intake air duct to the throttle body and upper air cleaner assembly (1).
6. Tighten the clamp securing the air intake duct to the upper air cleaner assembly (1).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
