Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair



Secondary Air Injection Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the secondary air injection (AIR) pump.
2. Disconnect the AIR pump hose quick connect fitting (2) from the AIR pump.
3. Reposition the hose out of the way.




4. Disconnect the AIR feed tube quick connect fitting (1) from the AIR pump.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.




6. Remove the front air deflector.
7. Disengage the AIR pump electrical connector clip (1) from the bracket.
8. Remove the AIR pump nuts (3).
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Remove the AIR pump (2).
11. Remove the AIR pump insulators, if necessary.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the AIR pump insulators, if necessary.
2. Install the AIR pump (2) to the bracket.
3. Secure the AIR pump electrical connector clip (1) to the bracket.
4. Raise the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

5. Install the AIR pump nuts.

Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the front air deflector.




7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the AIR feed tube quick connect fitting (1) to the AIR pump.




9. Connect the AIR pump hose quick connect fitting (2) to the AIR pump.
10. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the AIR pump.
