Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Guide Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Replacement (Oil Pump Replacement) .




2. Remove the oil outlet tube (2).
3. Remove the primary timing chain tensioner. Refer to Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner Replacement (Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner Replacement) .




4. Remove the two bolts attaching the primary camshaft drive chain guide (1) to the engine block.
5. Remove the primary camshaft drive chain guide (1).
6. Clean and inspect the camshaft timing drive components. Refer to Camshaft Timing Drive Components Cleaning and Inspection () .



Installation Procedure






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

1. Install the primary camshaft drive chain guide (1) and retaining bolts.

Tighten the primary camshaft drive chain guide bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

2. Install the primary timing chain tensioner. Refer to Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner Replacement (Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner Replacement) .




3. Install the oil outlet tube (2).

Tighten the oil outlet tube bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Install the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Replacement (Oil Pump Replacement) .
