Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution (SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution) .
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution) .
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the I/P carrier assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the I/P module harness connector.
4. Disconnect the pigtail connector from the I/P module.




5. Remove the mounting fasteners from the I/P module.
6. Remove the I/P module from the bracket.
7. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping (Service and Repair) .



Installation Procedure





1. Install the I/P module to the bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the I/P module mounting fasteners. Tighten the fasteners in the order shown in the graphic.

Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Connect the pigtail connector to the I/P module.
4. Install the CPA to the harness connector on the I/P module.
5. Install the I/P carrier assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
