ECM Wire Harness - Incorrect Routing

Number: 84-72

Section: 6D (VIy)

Date: Feb., 1984

Subject: ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE WIRE HARNESS ROUTING ON 4.1L (LE3), 5.7L (LS9) AND CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS (NB2)

Model and Year: 1984 "C-K" TRUCKS

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

Some early production vehicles built at Janesville assembly may have incorrect electronic control module wire harness routing. The harness may lay near the heater control cables. If this should happen, the harness may chafe and cause a malfunction of the ECM system.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE WIRING (ENGINE COMPARTMENT RIGHT SIDE):

To correct one of these vehicles, it will be necessary to bandstrap the harness away from the heater control cables (refer to the illustration). Inspect harness before strapping for damage. Repairs to the harness should be made at this time if necessary.
